Popular Sheamus began 2012 in outstanding fashion when he outlasted Chris Jericho to win the annual Royal Rumble event. He soon announced that he wanted to challenge Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami. With momentum riding on his side, Sheamus entered the ring in Miami Gardens on April 1, 2012 ready for war, but interestingly, he took advantage of Bryan's misplaced direction, landed a big boot just after Bryan finished kissing his girlfriend AJ, and pinned the champion in 18 seconds - winning the world championship. The match had been first of the show, and it caused the crowd to erupt, paving the way for an all-around exciting night. The next day on Raw, Sheamus was confronted by the returning Alberto Del Rio, who wanted a shot at the belt. Sheamus was ready to oblige, but first, he had another big boot to deliver, right to the side of Del Rio's head. |
