The June 18, 1957 edition of the Los Angeles Times reported that Torres was in the process of a divorce from his wife, Rachell, and that he was to pay $325 a month in support for their three children. Among the claims the wife made, according to the newspaper, was that he "struck her on several occasions," and that he "drank frequently and became abusive when drinking." Torres had moved from their Monterey Park home and agreed not to "molest or annoy" her pending a trial. Torres was said to be 6'1" and weighed 230 pounds. He was 34 years old.
