The Lou Thesz-Edouard Carpentier situation was an extremely controversial moment in
the history of the National Wrestling Alliance. It was initially a ploy by the organization to
make money, similar in many ways to the Thesz-Leo Nomellini deal in 1955, and
backfired causing a measure of damage to the Alliance.
