In the September 4, 1954 edition of Wrestling As You Like It, Joan Ellis of the I.W.W.A. reported in her column, "Joan's Jottings," that she had interviewed Nell Stewart, the Champion of Texas. Joan stated that in September, Stewart was going to Hollywood for a screen test, and might possibly play herself in a feature film by Paramount Pictures entitled, "Life of Nell Stewart." Additionally, Morgan Howard had written a 250-page biography on Stewart, which was going to be "available at your bookstore in a few weeks." Stewart was from Birmingham, Alabama, where she played on the boy's baseball squad at Mortimer Jordan High School. She had four sisters and two brothers. |
