Providence wrestler Jack Wagner suffered a punctured liver in a match against Joe Malcewicz in Chicago on October 29, 1930. During the bout, Malcewicz fell onto Wagner, which caused a broken rib that punctured his liver. Wagner won a fall shortly thereafter, but soon collapsed and was unable to continue.
