wrestling mats for at least six weeks.  The injury took place on Monday, September 20,

discuss the match.  Ed Lewis also appeared and said that he would not wrestle Stecher

d lose his $5,000 guarantee.  Lewis was not happy with the results of the Stecher-Pesek

Notes:  Stecher was originally scheduled to wrestle Ed “Strangler” Lewis.  According to
the March 27, 1927 edition of the St. Louis Daily Globe-Democrat, Billy Sandow talked
about how the Stecher-Lewis match didn’t happen.  “We have been accused of runnng
out of a match with Stecher twice on the coast.  That is not true.  Lewis really broke his
arm while training assiduously for the event and it had not healed sufficiently to permit
him to wrestle on the date selected for the postponement.  We feel very hurt about
Stecher taking down that $5,000 forfeit after that.”
