The place sat 6,400 people. *Ed McLemore announced on Friday, May 1, 1953 that he would move his wrestling shows to the New Livestock Pavilion at Fair Park. *In the Saturday, May 2, 1953 edition of the Dallas Morning News, W.T. Cox announced that the Sportatorium would be rebuilt and that arsonists were to blame for the destruction of the building. Cox “asked city fire investigators and a fire investigator for insurance underwriters to help the County Fire Marshal’s staff in the investigation.” Cox was a spokesman for the owners of the property. Cox claimed that “it is the third or fourth time they’ve tried to burn us out. Three or four weeks ago we found fifteen gallons of kerosene planted in the back in an attempt that failed.” Cox owned the property and the Cadiz Corporation owned the Sportatorium. The McLemore wrestling promotion in Dallas didn’t miss a beat. The Sportatorium was stated as being the home of Dallas wrestling for eighteen years.
