Hansen was considered a "trustbuster" for many years, akin to Marin Plestina and Jack Sherry. He was an outsider to the main factions and a serious challenger to one of the claims to the heavyweight wrestling championship. On March 8, 1925, in the Q and A segment by Griswold in the Omaha World Herald, he fielded a question from reader John F. Zike about wrestler Charlie Hansen. Zike asked Griswold how long Hansen had been wrestling and if he ever challenged Joe Stecher or Earl Caddock? Griswold responded that he knew that Hansen had wrestled for "several years," and that he did challenge Stecher "but nothing came of it." Research by Tim Hornbaker January 15, 2011 |
