The New Mexican (Santa Fe, NM) newspaper on Wednesday, April 17, 1974 reported that Mrs. Carmen Posa, wife of Antonio, was selected by the "International Wrestling Alliance" to promote wrestling in Northern New Mexico. Beginning on April 27, 1974 at the Pojoaque High School gymnasium. The Posa's reside at 224 Alta Vista in Santa Fe. A lengthy article on Antonio Posa appeared in The New Mexican newspaper in Santa Fe, NM on Sunday, June 2, 1974. Posa, at 17 years of age, became a bullfighter in Zaragosa, Spain, but suffered an injury (or injuries) that caused him to withdraw from that profession. He began wrestling as an amateur, then turned pro at 22 in Europe. In 1963, he moved to Santa Fe and wrestled many top wrestlers, including Lou Thesz. He also competed in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, and in Africa. At the time of this article, he was 39 years old, and wrestled locally or in Juarez. His wife Carmen was also a promoter of wrestling. He could bench press 350 pounds and ran up to 8 miles a day. Posa also claimed the World Middleweight Title at one time. On Wednesday, June 17, 1981 in Saragoza, Spain, Juana Posa died at the age of 84. Posa was the mother of wrestler Antonio Posa. Antonio was the owner of El Merendero Posa's in Santa Fe.
